Scope and Content Plan showing the settlement on Gibb's Hill, Dumfries and Galloway Situated on the summit of Gibb's Hill and overlooking the valley of the Logan Water, are the well-preserved remains of a multi-period settlement. Around the summit are remains of round-houses as well as traces of early cultivation. On plan, the settlement on Gibb's Hill is a complex of banks, ditches and traces of round-houses. At least five periods of occupation and construction have been identified, with each successive occupation overlying earlier phases. Settlements like this enclosed timber-built round-houses with a yard for keeping animals and storage. A mixture of animal husbandry and arable cultivation were likely practised by the inhabitants.
