Publication drawing; Plan of Tanner's Linn fort.

SC 381979

Description Publication drawing; Plan of Tanner's Linn fort.

Date 1996

Collection Records of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Edinbu

Catalogue Number SC 381979

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of DC 32577

Scope and Content Redrawn for publication as comparative plan from DC 32413. Plan of earthworks by the banks of Tanner's Linn, Mollin, Dumfries and Galloway The remains of a prehistoric earthwork lie on the precipitous left bank of the Tanner's Linn, about 700m south-east of Mollin steading. The earthworks likely represent a small fort or defended settlement. The earthwork comprises double stony ramparts enclosing a small sub-rectangular area, which has no internal features. Erosion by Tanner's Linn has destroyed the entrance, presumably in either the western or eastern rampart. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
