Date 1996

Collection Records of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Edinbu

Catalogue Number SC 381968

Copy of DC 32606

Scope and Content Plan of the fort and settlement on Knock Hill, Dumfries and Galloway. Redrawn from DC 32365 for publication as comparative plan. Situated some 2km south-west of Beattock, the summit of Knock Hill is occupied by a fort partially overlain by a later enclosed settlement. Both sites have been badly damaged by stone robbing. Only the arc of rampart and rock-cut ditch on the south remains of the earlier fort. Two possible hut-platforms are visible within the settlement, lying adjacent to the entrance and a third can be seen outside the fort, immediately to the east. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
